Kinds of Materials and Their Features

Fabrics are of different kinds and fall in different categories. Cloth comes in two kinds – natural and man-made. Because the name suggests natural cloth comes from nature. Its sources are silkworm cocoons, animal coats and totally different part of a plant, i.e., seeds, leaves and stems. The class of natural cloth holds an extended list of its kind.

Cotton – Used mostly in summer, cotton is soft and comfortable. Did you occur to know that cotton is essentially the most breathable material? It absorbs moisture, which makes it breathable.

Silk – Silk is the smoothest and highly favorred fabric. It is usually the strongest natural fiber. One among its many features is that it may be easily dyed because of its high absorbency. As a result of its ability to soak up moisture, it is also great for summer. It doesn’t wrinkle or loses its shape.

Wool – The thing that keeps us alive even in harsh winter otherwise we crumble to death. Wool also absorbs and releases which makes it breathable. It is warm because of being an insulator. It does not catch dust easily, so there is no such thing as a want to clean it each time you wear it. It is sturdy and cannot be torn easily. It’s also grime and flame resistant. Wool is strongest when it is dry.

Denim – It weighs heavy. Denim is high in fashion. Denim jacket, pants, and jeans are more desirered by people. It is made from tightly woven material and like most of the material can be breathable. It lasts longer than regular cotton. Denim on account of its thickness demands to be ironed at a high temperature to do away with all the fold marks and creases.

Velvet – You’ll be able to call velvet a subdivision of cloth because it does come out of something directly, but is made of different materials like rayon, cotton, silk to name a few. It’s thick and warm and is of great comfort in winter. It is usually durable. Velvet requires special care and proper handling. And keep in mind that not all of them will be washed within the washing machine. It’s higher to check the directions first.

Besides these, different natural fabrics are leather, terry material, linen, corduroy, etc.

Artificial fabrics

The fiber of synthetic fabric either comes directly from inorganic supplies or organic materials mixed with chemicals. Its fiber comes from glass, ceramic, carbon, etc.

Nylon – Nylon is quite strong. Because it is stretchable in nature nylon regain its shape and is also durable. The fibers in nylon are smooth which makes it simple to dry. It also weighs less than other fibers. Unlike natural cloth, it doesn’t take in moisture which makes it unbreathable. It will cause sweat and isn’t good for summers.

Polyester – This synthetic cloth is also strong and stretchable. Polyester cannot absorb moisture apart from microfiber. It also doesn’t get wrinkled.

Different synthetic fibers are spandex, rayon, acetate, acrylic, polar fleece etc.

  47. After I initially commented I appear to have clicked the -Notify me when new comments
    are added- checkbox and now every time a comment is added I
